Las Nubes seeks to be the best wine company, producer and distributor of wines from the Baja California region. Through our profession team, using the latest technologies that allow us to grow sustainably. We protect the natural environment, while producing quality Baja wines.
Las Nubes started in 2008 with the purchase of 20 hectares, and now with 30 hectares.
It was in the year of 2009, that the first 12 hectares where planted for commercial production, with the following distribution:
Nebbiolo 3 ha.
Grenache 2 ha.
Carigan 2 ha.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2 ha.
Merlot 2 ha.
Tempranillo 1 ha.
The density of the planting is of approximate 3,100 per hectares, and plan on obtaining 5-6 tons per hectares when the plant reach its maturity.
In 2010, 15 varietals where placed in an hectare for study. This varietals are:
White: Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Vidal Blanc and Viogner
Red: Barbera, Malbec, Mourvèdre, Petit Verdot, Petit Sirah, Primitivo, Sangiovese, Syrah, Tannat, and Zinfandel
In 2012, 2 hectares of Petit Sirah, 1 hectare of Tempranillo, and 2 hectares of Syrah
In 2013, 1 hectare of Sauvignon Blanc were planted
Today, there is a total of 19 hectares planted
All varietals, both for commercial production and research, are on rootstocks to protect them from diseases and soil deficiencies .
